The Stoning of Soraya M

A journalist named Freidoune (James Caviezel) uncovers a modern case of stoning to death by a bunch of Iranian barbarians who profess to be Muslim fundamentalists. When his car breaks down, the journalist fatefully meets Zahra (Shohreh Aghashloo) who reveals to the writer the horrific case of injustice done to her niece Soraya (Mozhan Marno) in 1986. She reveals that her niece was an innocent wife whose unfaithful husband Mullah (Ali Pourtash) accused her of being unfaithful as a means to be rid of her. She is judged guilty, and despite all appeals, she suffers a death sentence: to be stoned to death in traditional fashion by the town's citizenry. Soraya’s aunt wants the world to know of the barbaric practice still performed in modern Iran.
