Set in Paris in 1968, this movie follows Matthew (Michael Pitt), a young American exchange student with a passion for film. Matthew encounters a demonstration one day when he is on his way to see a movie. He befriends Theo (Louis Garrel) and Isabelle (Eva Green), a French brother and sister who also share his love of film. Theo and Isabelle invite Matthew to stay with them while their parents are on vacation. The relationship between the three blossoms amid the May 1968 student riots, and together they form their own dream world. Together they test each other's boundaries, sexually and emotionally. Tension forms as Matthew and Isabelle grow closer, because there is an unnatural attraction between Theo and Isabelle.
