The movie is about Edifis and his friend Getafix, who are trying to build a palace for the Roman Emperor Julius Cesar, within three months of time. The order was placed by the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra (Monica Bellucci), who made a bet against Julius Cesar. In order for Edifis to be able to complete this task, he asks Getafix to help out with his magic potion. The potion provides anyone with super strength and would definitely help in the construction process. On his way to Egypt, Getafix takes along Asterix (Christian Clavier) and Obelix (Gerard Departieu), in case he needs further assistance. When the building of the palace comes along great, Cesar tries to undermine the progress in order to win the bet against Cleopatra.
