Dr. Henry Carter (Kevin Spacey) is a Los Angeles psychiatrist with some problems. After a personal tragedy, he has turned to drugs and alcohol to ease the pain. In an attempt to help him, Henry's father Robert Carter (Robert Loggia) sets him up with a new patient, a teen named Jemma (Keke Palmer). Jemma has recently gone through a similar personal tragedy to the one Henry experienced, and Robert is hoping that this case will help him to find some understand of his own problems. Will Jemma and Henry be able to connect and help one another to get through their personal pain and re-engage in their lives?
