Alice (Heather Graham) is living a comfortable urban life. Her job is interesting, her boyfriend is nice. But her heart yearns for more excitement. She meets Adam (Joseph Fiennes), a man of the outdoors. He's an explorer, he lives life with risks and in the wilderness. The complete contrast intrigues Alice and she leaves her boyfriend for him. In their remote mountain cabin, they explore the sensual fantasies that, at times, are dangerously close to asphyxiation, only to discover that it is pleasurable and addicting. But does Adam have a violent past that has led to murder which could be placing Alice in danger? His constant requests for her to trust him raises more doubts as she suspects she may be his next victim.
