24 Hour Party People, takes you back to Manchester in 1976 to the astonishing story of Tony Wilson (Steve Coogan) and his evolution from TV personality to becoming one of the forefathers of alternative culture. Alongside Wilson are partners Alan Erasmus (Lennie James), first wife Lindsay Wilson (Shirley Henderson), and a host of other musicians and personalities. The film covers punk rock to the founding of The Hacienda, to the start of historic Factory Records, the film follows Wilson’s pitfalls and triumphs. Highlighting this mix of urban legend, drama and biography are cameos by Manchester fixtures such as Mark E. Smith, Steve Coogan himself and Howard Devoto. This film takes the viewer on the ride of a lifetime spanning more than a decade of popular culture.
