“Diary of the Dead” is a movie depicting brutal images but having a wit that makes it go down easy. A mass zombie take-over is captured on video by Debra (Michelle Morgan) and her boyfriend Jason (Josh Close) , both college film students at a Pittsburgh college. Jason and Debra are working on a little horror film for Jason’s class project when they come afoul of zombies who are running wild. They decide to make their film into a documentary, with Jason doing the camera-work and Debra doing the voiceovers. They end up putting their work up on the Internet for all the world to see. Along with a small film crew of other students, they jut around town looking for horrific footage and finding it. The students realize that these zombies are quickly overtaking much of their city, and are compelled to start seeking out their loved ones to see if they’ve survived or have been turned into flesh-eaters.
