With sweeping cinematic vision and appropriately sensitive portrayal of controversial subject matter, Edison brings to life the passion, ambition and verve of this century's greatest dog trainer, Charles H. E. "Edison" Schumacher. In the midst of his sqaulid upbringing by abusive foster parents, Edison learns from an early age the skills that dogs use to survive can also help him. Forming a special bond with an abandoned mutt in the alley behind his yard, Edison trains him to achieve unseen feats of leaping and magic. From this, we follow Edison as he brings several acts to the vaudeville stage, and eventually to the nascent silent movie industry. His tempestuous relationship with his half-sister and lover brings the movie to an exciting conclusion.
