Hurricane Katrina devastated Marerro, La and the surrounding area. All the high schools were destroyed except for one and everyone was now attending one school. A year after Katrina hit, Al Collins (Forest Whitaker) a high school basketball coach has the job of putting a team together from 5 different schools that were once rivals. The struggle seems impossible. Former rivals that still have that competitive animosity toward one another find it hard to overcome that feeling as they pursue a state championship as a major underdog. Can Collins mold this unlikely team into winners or will Katrina have the last word once again?
