Tim (Khan Chittenden) and his mother Jean (Brenda Blethlyn) are close, but their relationship isn't always easy. Tim is shy but responsible moving van operator, his mother is an outgoing woman who works as a comedian when not working her day job at a canteen. He is looking forward to a future that he may not be brave enough to embrace while she is reminiscing about a past that she feels she is almost able to rebuild. When Tim has a chance at experiencing love with Jill (Emma Booth) it appears that only one future may be possible.
