Police Chief James Porter (Martin Lawrence) is a committed officer and takes his profession very seriously sometimes even too much. His overprotection affects his family life. He is like a shadow to his daughter Melanie (Raven-Symoné) trying to protect her from any trouble. When Melanie a perfect student finishes high school and decides to travel around the country to choose the perfect college for her future studies James decides to accompany her on the trip to keep her safe. Their road trip soon transforms in a real chaos full of great funny adventures which are not so pleasant for James.
