Being the fifth film in the National Lampoon series, the movie starts with Eddie Johnson (Randy Quaid) being fired from his workplace, a nuclear facility, after an altercation with the monkey whom he used to work with. Fearing of a lawsuit, his boss sends him on Christmas vacation on an island in the South Pacific with his wife Catherine (Miriam Flynn). At first the trip proves to be a disaster as they shipwrecked this fueling Audrey Griswold’s (Dana Barron) and Uncle Nick’s (Ed Asner) anger for agreeing to join the trip. But being helped by Muka Laka Miki (Sung Hi Lee), an attractive islander, and Eddie who proves that he can be a responsible family guy, they all end up having a nice Christmas just before being rescued.
