Sam Walczak (Mischa Barton) is a young and intelligent woman who has just graduated from her engineering school. She then travels to a remote location where she will supervise a demolition of the mysterious Malestrazza building. Upon her arrival, she soon discovers behind the grim looking building there is a chilling hidden secret where fifteen years ago, the building's architect had viciously murdered some of the previous inhabitants by burying them alive within the walls of his building. Amongst the tenants that are left are caretaker, Mary (Deborah Kara Unger) and her teenage son named Jimmy (Cameron Bright). With the help of Jimmy, she tries to dig deeper about the haunted building but soon finds herself trying to escape from the precarious situation she is in.
