Nancy Drew (Emma Roberts) and her father (Tate Donovan) go to Los Angeles on buisness and rent a house where murdered movie star, Dehlia Draycott (Laura Harring) had lived. Nancy's father prohibits Nancy from doing any more sleuthing and suggests she act like a normal teenager. At her new school, Nancy is labeled as an outcast and picked on by her classmates. Since she can't fit in, Nancy reverts to solving the murder of Dehlia. Through careful investigation Nancy starts to put the pieces together and solve the murder. However, someone isn't too happy that she's on the case. Nancy receives multiple threats. But she still doesn't let that stop her. Nancy continues with her work along with the help of her friends Corky (Josh Flitter) and Ned (Max Thieriot) to find out what really happened to Dehlia Draycott.
