Cheech (Cheech Marin) and Chong (Tommy Chong) are two stoners who steal a load of a bunch of experimental marijuana from a man who they are house-sitting for. Deciding to get rich quick, the duo decides to sell pot-laced ice cream. Business takes off and soon the two are raking in the dollars. But success comes with a price, namely the side effects of the experimental weed. One man (Stacy Keach) slowly turns into a lizard while the cops try to bust Cheech and Chong. Thus begins a journey filled with the two meeting customers who are even more bizarre than themselves as a result of the weed. This includes a trip to a mental institution where the meet Jimi Hendrix (Michael Winslow), a drug-addled patient (Paul Reubens) and the doctor (Timothy Leary) who give Cheech the keys to the universe.
