Mike Cranshaw (Steve Zahn) is sure he has met the woman of his dreams in Sue Claussen (Jennifer Aniston), an uptight sales rep. When she checks into the roadside motel that Mike's parents own, he is immediately enamored by her. In a bold move in his otherwise slacker existence, Mike decides to travel across the country in pursuit of Sue. What he didn't expect was such strong competition from Sue's hot-tempered boyfriend Jango (Woody Harrelson). After some soul searching by both Mike and Sue, will Mike be able to win Sue over and find a way to make a relationship work between them, or will his cross-country trip be for nothing?
