Reservation Road is a dramatic thriller movie showing how two families try to cope with tragedy, guilt and revenge in their lives. Ethan Learner (Joaquin Phoenix), his wife Grace (Jennifer Connelly), and their daughter Emma (Elle Fanning) are returning home after wowing their 10-year-old son Josh’s (Sean Curley) cello performance at a concert. They stop at a gas station on Reservation Road where their son’s life is taken away forever, being hit accidentally by Dwight Arno (Mark Ruffalo). Dwight Arno is a law associate and cherishes his time spent with his 11-year-old son Lucas (Eddie Alderson). Driving his son back to his ex-wife, Lucas` mother Ruth Wheldon (Mira Sorvino); Dwight heads towards his fateful encounter at Reservation Road. The accident occurs very fast and Dwight opts to escape. Now Dwight should have stopped, but he simply drove off. The police are called, and an investigation begins. Haunted by the tragedy, both fathers react in unexpected ways, as do Grace and Emma. So that, even as one family grieves over it's loss, the other is overburdened by guilt. Sad as they are, the fate forces the two fathers to make the hardest choices of their lives.
