Funny Money is about Henry Perkins (Chevy Chase), an unhappy worker at a wax-fruit factory whose life changes when he picks up a suitcase by mistake on the subway and finds that he is now in the custody of five million dollars. He gets home to his wife Carol (Penelope Ann Miller), who is hesitant to jump on a plane with Henry and leave her entire life behind. Hilarious situations arise, when a lot of strange folk gather at Henry and Carol's apartment and become entwined in a series of unfortunate events. Through a number of coincidences, a police officer, Henry's boss, and the Russian gangster whose money Henry took end up in the apartment, along with numerous other characters. Henry and Carol find themselves telling the visitors contradicting stories in order to protect their secret, and this leads to even more craziness.
