Blake Morrison (Colin Firth) has just heard the news. His father, Arthur (Jim Broadbent) has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Blake decides to travel to the village he grew up in to stay with his mother and spend time with his father in his last few weeks. He visits his father at the hospital several times, the same hospital he worked in as a doctor. As Arthur gets worse, Blake begins to analyze their relationship and contemplate their experiences together. It’s a moving story that focuses on how death forces us to look at life, especially when it’s the death of a parent.
