An Irish-Catholic family in Boston struggles with the hardships of growing up and growing further apart. Cole McKay (Michael Angarano) is a teenager with dreams of playing major league baseball, but it seems like his family couldn’t care less. His mother, Margaret (Melissa Leo), is obsessed with creating a God-fearing image of perfection for her family. His father, Desmond (Brendan Gleeson), is reeling from depression after having lost his job. Worst of all, his older brother Terry (Tom Guiry) is spinning on a downward spiral from drugs, crime, and violence, and is slowly pulling Cole with him. The family continues to fall apart as Cole’s sister, Kathleen (Emily Van Camp), discovers she is pregnant. How far will Cole go to keep his family together?
