Life Support is a contemporary urban drama set in Brooklyn and based upon real events. The story follows Ana (Queen Latifah), as she battles with her addition to crack while simultaneously trying to mend her frayed relationships with her daughter (Rachel Nicks) and mother (Anna Deavere Smith). Working as an HIV awareness activist, Ana walks the streets of Brooklyn distributing condoms and sex-education pamphlets to anyone who will take them; helping others avoid the mistakes that she herself has made. While the pressure of Ana's situation at times causes her to lose control, and invariably hurt those closest to her, she never loses sight of her goal, and ultimately her strength of character and compassion lead her to become a positive role model within the community.
