The Callans move into a new house, but daughter Emma (Elisabeth Moss) is uncomfortable and uneasy about the place, especially the attic. She becomes more and more reclusive and miserable, and the rest of her family feels it too. Her brother Frankie (Tom Malloy) is one of her only friends, but his disabilities hinder him from truly understanding her situation. Her parents, Graham (John Savage) and Kim (Catherine Mary Stewart) are too distant and out of touch with reality to believe that something is wrong. The attic becomes a dangerous place when Emma is attacked by someone who looks like a mirror image of herself. She befriends the only person who really believes her, Detective John Trevor (Jason Lewis). Eventually Emma learns that a dark secret from her parents’ past may be coming back to haunt her.
