The Final Season

Based on a true story, “The Final Season” is the inspirational tale of the Norway (Iowa) High School baseball team and their coach, Kent Stock (Sean Astin). The team has a legacy of success, having won nineteen state championships over the past few decades. However, the school is shutting down and merging with other rural schools, and the team’s longtime coach, Jim Van Poyoc (Powers Booth), is forced out of his job. Stock, his assistant, takes over the reins of the disheartened team and leads them on a quest for a twentieth and last championship. In the process, he brings the entire town of Norway together to rally against the school merger and show Polly Hudson (Rachael Leigh Cook), the state attorney lobbying for the merger, the qualities of small town America that should not be tossed aside.
