A historical picture loosley depicting events surrounding the Mountain Meadows Massacre that occurred on September 11, 1857. When Jonathan Samuelson (Trent Ford) and Emily Hudson (Tamara Hope) fall in love, there is much in the way of their relationship. Jonathan is the son of the local Mormon bishop Jacob Samuelson (Jon Voight), and the other the daughter of the Reverend Hudson (Daniel Libman) who is pastor of an ill-fated wagon train passing through Utah. Bishop Samuelson zealously believes in the teachings of his prophets Joseph Smith (Dean Cain) and later Brigham Young (Terence Stamp), and this leads him to believe that it is right to attack the wagon train. This attack is led by John D Lee (Jon Gries), whose name is infamously connected with the events of that day, and has major implications for the young lovers and the nation and its future.
