This is a fairy tale set in medieval China about a poor young girl( Cecilia Cheung ) who encounters a goddess(Hong Chen) who tells her she will give her wealth and beauty and make her a princess if she accepts one condition: that every man she ever loves will soon die. The young girl accepts and becomes a princess, but never finds love because of the nature of the gift bestowed on her. She has years of unhappiness because of her gift, and is resigned to being alone when a mysterious knight in crimson armor(Dong-Kun Jang) saves her from an invading army, and she is afraid that he will die too because of the curse, which can only be lifted if it snows in the spring and the dead come back to life.
