Nothing is what it seems in “Phantasm” as a young teen; Mike Pearson (Michael Baldwin) is dealing with the loss of his parents. Part of that grieving is worrying over the loss of his, Jody Pearson (Bill Thornbury) who he follows him to another funeral of a close friend. After the funeral Mike discovers the menacing form of a stranger only ever known as ‘The Tall Man’ (Angus Scrimm). The Tall Man is stealing the casket of the deceased single handedly. Mike discovers the Tall Man is using the dead as animated slaves and returns home to enlist the help of his brother and Reggie (Reggie Bannister), an Ice Cream Man against the Tall Man and his dangerous fantastic spheres.
